Position Summary:

Under the supervision of Project/Program Manager & technical support provided by the Library & Reading Program Manager, Library Coordinator will be responsible for the monitoring & implementation of DIL’s Library & Reading Program activities in a cluster of schools.  Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to; establishment and maintenance of library spaces, monitoring of library lesson/period , execution of after school reading activities, orientation &  library management training for librarians  and provision of technical support to the school library staff


Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in library sciences (preferable) with minimum 2 years of relevant experience in library management or  teaching English subject.

Technical Skills:

  • Understanding of library & reading activities (Desirable)
  • Monitoring  & implementation of  library & reading activities
  • Ability to use online communication tools
  • Excellent MS-office skills
  • Training Delivery (desirable)
  • Good communication and report writing skills in English
Behavioral Skills:
  • Outcome orientated with an aptitude to work with multiple teams
  • sociable, flexible and adept at solving problems
  • Prior experience of and an ability to work in rural education context is highly desirable
  • Willingness to travel in challenging field 
 Major Responsibilities:

  Library management & coordination (50%)
  • Follow up with schools to ensure management of library resources as per DIL Library Manual.
  • Ensure students having access to library resources and circulation of library books is taking place regularly at libraries
  • Coordinate with schools to provide community access to library resources (depends upon feasibility)
  • Follow up with schools to ensures healthy and pleasant reading environment at library spaces
  • Identify gaps and suggests viable solutions/options
  • Provides on demand assistance to all librarians, library in-charge teachers,  head teachers  and principals
  • Coordinate with schools to implement reading program activities as per DIL guidelines
  • Follow up with schools to ensures efficient utilization of library period & resources
  • Performs follow up visits to school  libraries as per quarterly plan
Training (20%)
  • Arranges orientation sessions for new librarians
  • Conducts, library management and reading support trainings, for principal and library in-charge teachers
  • Attends and replicates library & reading support trainings provided by DIL or other partner organizations
  • Identify training needs of principals and library in-charge teacher
 Execution of after school reading activities (10%)
  • Ensures timely provision of material and orientation required by schools for the execution of Book Club and Reading Friend activity
  • Provides assistance to the school staff during planning and implementation of  after school reading activities including Book Club and Reading Friend programs
  • Ensure after school reading activities are taking place smoothly and regularly at schools (where these activities are feasible)
Establishment of libraries (10%)
  • Identify potential schools for new library spaces and rooms
  • Coordinates establishment of new library rooms by creating dedicated library rooms, library furniture & resources

 

Reporting (10%)
  • Submits summary of monthly library & reading activities reports (all library spaces.
  • Prepares quarterly progress reports on school visits, librarian’s activities, trainings, after school activities, challenges and observations.
