Introduction

An international non-governmental organisation is looking for the services of a Protection Officer (2 Males and 2 Females). One Male and one Female each for its Peshawar and Kohat Office respectively. The position will be on fixed term contract basis with the possibility of extension in future depending on needs and funding.

Organisational Position:

The Protection Officer will be based in Peshawar / Kohat and will work as part of a team under the overall supervsion of Program Manager and direct supervision of the Protection / Livelihood Coordinator.

Position objective:

The Protection Officer is primarly responsible for successfull planning, implementation, supervision and monitoirng of Protection and livelihood interventiosn and minstreaming proteciton into livelihood interventions guided by program hand book.

ToRs of Protection Officer:

  • Ensure participation of representative community groups in the design, delivery and monitoring of project activities
  • Help ensure that protection activities are conducted within the international legal / human rights framework
  • Preparing protection information in an easily-understandable format for communities.
  • Design, compile and disseminate relevant and up to date information about durable solutions, Proof of registration cards modification centres and host country legislation.
  • Disseminate up to date information within the communities about the livelihood trends and economic opportunities (sustainable re-integration process) under the auspicious of SSAR available for returnees in their palaces of origin.
  • Disseminate information about the child labor laws, gender specific earning opportunities and religious sensitization on gender based violence issues and human rights.
  • Sensitization of women to access and participate in the labor market keeping in view the norms and values of the targeted community.
  • Keep regular and effective coordination and communication with all relevant stakeholders including government officials, humanitarian community and target community  to ensure proper and successful implementation and avoid duplication
  • Assist to make relevant documents related to the indicators of the project with the consultation of supervisor and in guidance of donor.
  • Co-operate, interact and accurately and responsibly share information with partner organizations, relevant government departments and local authorities, BPRM, UNHCR protection staff and other protection partners on a regular basis.
  • Prepare documentations of all relevant activities (protection monitoring forms, field trip reports, information sessions reports, checklists, weekly, monthly and yearly plans).
  • Work together with livelihood colleagues in identification and development transparent beneficiary vulnerability criteria and manage selection procedures. 
  • Responsible for identification and registration of beneficiary households for the livelihoods program (Vocational Trainings, Small and Medium Enterprises Business Management Skills Trainings) and making regular follow ups
  • Any other relevant task assigned by the Supervisor.

About you

The successful candidate will be expected to have the following profile:

Qualification:

Bachelor degree in Law (LLB) and or Master’s degree holder in social science from a reputed national or international university. 

Work Experience:

Minimum 2 years, officer level, post graduation professional work experience within the field of protection.

Experience of livelihood projects is desirable.

Working experience with INGOs / International organizations is desireable.

Skills / Knowledge:

Excellent understanding of displacement issues of both internally displaced and refugees related international standards/frameworks

Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective working relations with local staff and other stakeholders

Excellent negotiation, presentaiton and communication skills 

Professional fluency in written and spoken English and Pashto is a must.

Knowledge of displacement issues in both Pakistan and Afghanistan is an asset
