Introduction

An international non-governmental organisation is looking for the services of a Livelihood Officer (2 Males and 3 Females). Two Males and two Females for its Kohat office and one Female for its Peshawar Office respectively. The position will be on fixed term contract basis with the possibility of extension in future depending on needs and funding.

Organisational Position:

The Livelihood Officer will be based in Peshawar / Kohat and will work as part of a team under the overall supervsion of Program Manager and direct supervision of the Senior Liveihood Officer / Livelihood Coordinator.

Position objective:

The Livelihood Officer is primarly responsible for successfull planning, implementation, supervision and monitoirng of livelihood interventiosn and minstreaming proteciton into livelihood interventions guided by program hand book.

Following are the terms of refrences of Livelihood officer:

  • Provide inputs in design and management of delivery of the integrated livelihoods programme and participate in the baseline survey and other assessments.
  • Conduct community meetings in targeted areas to mobilize youth, women, and wider community for livelihood intervention.
  • Identification and development transparent beneficiary vulnerability criteria and manage selection procedures. 
  • Responsible for identification and registration of beneficiary households for the livelihoods program (Vocational Trainings, Small and Medium Enterprises Business Management Skills Trainings)
  • In close coordination with skill development council develop updated syllabus for different trades of Vocational trainings.
  • Identify and establish training centres for women in target areas in close collaboration with community, keeping in view local culture and norms.
  • Assist in identification of private vocational training institutes for provision of trainings to the beneficiaries.
  • Provide guidance to vocational training institute on the selection of workshops to enrol beneficiaries for practical knowledge on hand.
  • Regular supervise and monitor vocational trainings, performance of the trainers and make sure the course is completed in given time and according to syllabus.
  • In close coordination with procurement department carry out market survey for tool kits identification and specifications.
  • Distribution of tool kits to vocational training and SME beneficiaries.
  • Distribution of monthly travelling allowance/compensatory allowance to vocational trainings beneficiaries.
  • Carry out “Business Management Skills Trainings” to Vocational Training’s trainees of and Small and Medium Enterprises beneficiaries.
  • Organize exhibition to link the beneficiaries with market
  • Facilitate examination conducted by Skill development council.
  • Work in close coordination with other sectors e.g. Protection, WASH, CI, and emergency.
  • Disseminate up to date information within the communities about the livelihood trends and economic opportunities (sustainable re-integration process) under the auspicious of SSAR available for returnees in their palaces of origin.
  • Representation of the organizational livelihoods programme at different forums
  • Responsible for generating daily, weekly, monthly and final training completion reports and timely submission to Livelihoods Coordinator.

About you

The successful candidate will be expected to have the following profile:

Qualification:

Master’s degree holder in social work, social science or agriculture from a reputed national or international university. 

Work Experience:

Minimum 2 years, officer level, post graduation professional work experience within Livelihood projects.

Working experience with INGOs / International organizations is desireable.

Skills / Knowledge:

Excellent understanding of displacement issues of both internally displaced and refugees related international standards/frameworks

Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to establish effective working relations with local staff and other stakeholders

Excellent negotiation, presentaiton and communication skills 

Professional fluency in written and spoken English and Pashto is a must.

Knowledge of displacement issues in both Pakistan and Afghanistan is an asset
