Laboratory Technician

Relevant Experience:

• Must hold Higher Secondary School certificate.

• Must be a qualified & registered Laboratory Technician.

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the relevant field.

• Knowledge of regional languages of the duty station.

• Must be aware of cultural sensitivities.

Job Description:

• To collect, process, and handle blood and/or other biological specimens according to established procedures; instruct patients on the proper collection of samples.
• To collect and process all laboratory specimens in accordance with the standard protocols.
• Maintain the integrity of the specimen during handling and processing.
• Properly labeling the specimen.
• Proper documentation of laboratory activities.
• Reporting of laboratory results in a timely manner.
• Performs specific clinical laboratory tests in the areas of hematology, and urinalysis, as assigned.
• To clean lab facilities and equipment after lab exercises are complete; and to store supplies and equipment as applicable.
• To perform calibration and troubleshooting on testing systems and instrument to ensure adherence to established standards of accuracy.
