The American Refugee Committee (ARC) is an international humanitarian organization dedicated to transformational change – change in the lives of refugees and in the lives of the people who reach out to help.  American Refugee Committee programs are built from the ground up.  We work with people at the most vulnerable points in their lives, when they have lost everything to war or disaster.  They let us know what they need most, and we work together to develop ways to help them get it.  Our programs are as diverse as the people we serve, but they all work together for the same goal:  to help people take back control of their lives.  We help nearly 2.5 million people a year through programs around the world.

 


PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

 

The position is to carry out the social mobilization activities and GBV trainings in Refugee Villages of Loralai


MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • The position is responsible for mobilizing the community of Refugee villages of Loralai district through dialogue, awareness raising and using PRA/RRA tools to identify causes of local problems and their solutions.

  • MTs will mobilize and organize the community for GBV project and will form community groups, record keeping, internal saving mechanism and training/ capacity building of the members

  • MTs will ensure active community support for the project activities and ownership.

  • MT will maintain laision with community elders and leaders in Refugee Villages

  • MTs will facilitate the regular meetings of ADR and other project stakeholders like religious and social leaders in the community

  • MTs will coordinate and facilitate the WFS and youth club activities.

  • MTs will identify and proactively communicate any issues that might affect the project implementation and engage community support with guidance from the District Coordinators and Sr. Program Officer to address the issues.

  • Collection and dissemination of information between communities, ARC project staff and stakeholders.

  • Reporting the progress on regular basis

  • Carry out other project related functional roles as requested and guided by District Coordinator and Sr. Program Officer.

  • Other duties as assigned by District Coordinator /Sr. Program Officer       


EDUCATION, TECHNICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED

  • The incumbent should have Graduation degree.
  • Knowledge and Experience of social mobilization and community organization
  • Previous experience of working with Afghan Refugees/Refugee Villages
  • Excellent communication skills especially in Pushto/ Dari languages
  • Experience of providing trainings to community groups

  • Must be a local/ willing to relocate to Loralai district
  • Must be available for some evening and weekend hours
  • Ability to travel 80 percent of their job within the district

  • Highly developed organizational, liaison and communication skills
  • Ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
  • Ability to be administratively self-sufficient
