ELECTRO-MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Applications are invited from experience professionals to fill in the short term contract position of Electro Mechanical Engineer based at our PEDO office Chitral.

Job Purpose:

Supervision of mini/micro hydro power (MHP) generation projects to ensure the quality of equipment and installation.

Experience required:

Minimum 8 years of relevant experience with a focus on MHP Projects. Candidates with practical knowledge, experience and understanding of turbines, generators, electro mechanical (E&M) equipment and transmission & distribution (T&D) systems would be preferred. 

Job Description:

• Review and verification of cost estimation of E&M and T&D component of projects. Ensuring that accurate estimates are timely available for bidding purposes.
• Evaluation and assessing the accuracy and completeness of bids/bidding documents received against E&M and T&D.
• Leading the technical negotiations with E&M and T&D vendors.
• Review and assessment of technical designs and data submitted by E&M and T&D vendors.
• Finalization of production/manufacturing, supply and installation schedules with by E&M and T&D vendors.
• Visits to manufacturing sites/vendors for verification/review/reporting that manufacturing production and supply are as per agreed schedules and standard engineering specifications.
• Reporting observations on quality issues during production, supply, and installation, testing and commissioning of MHP sites and taking corrective actions at the spot.
• Ensuring that supply and installation of E&M and T&D equipment is well synchronized with civil works and coordination with civil work engineers and contractors for smooth project implementation.
• Monitor hydroelectric power plant equipment operation and performance, adjusting to performance specifications, as necessary.
• Oversee Start, adjust, or stop generating units, operating valves, gates, or auxiliary equipment in hydroelectric power generating plants.
• Communicate status of hydroelectric operating equipment to regional office
• Implement load or switching orders in hydroelectric plants, in accordance with specifications or instructions.
• Inspect water-powered electric generators or auxiliary equipment in hydroelectric plants to verify proper operation or to determine maintenance or repair needs.
• Install or calibrate electrical or mechanical equipment, such as motors, engines, switchboards, relays, switch gears, meters, pumps, hydraulics, or flood channels.
• Maintain logs, reports, work requests, or other records of work performed in hydroelectric plants.
• Maintain or repair hydroelectric plant electrical, mechanical, or electronic equipment, such as motors, transformers, voltage regulators, generators, relays, battery systems, air compressors, sump pumps, gates, or valves
• Anticipating the upcoming issues and problems and timely taking actions to avoid risks.
• Mentoring & coaching of relevant staff of the project.
• Ensuring timely reporting including progress reports.
