Background: The position is for an international development project working to deliver social infrastructure across Pakistan.

 

Position Summary: This position will have the principal role of coordinating and assisting with undertaking the internal audit activities in each province.

 

Location: Peshawar

 

Reporting and Supervision: The Audit Manager reports to Head of Internal Audit.

 

Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate the internal audit function covering the operational activities of the Project across the province, including district offices, individual construction contractors and schools in each respective district.
  • Undertake district office audits in collaboration with KPMG.
  • Undertake construction contractor audits in collaboration with KPMG.
  • Liaise with the Head of Audit in relation to provincial office audits.
  • Review and comment on the section of the annual audit work plan relating to work in the province.
  • Read all audit reports relating to Project activities within the province, gain a detailed understanding of audit issues arising across the province, confirm that actions agreed by the auditor and client entity are sufficient and appropriate to address these issues, and where necessary discuss with the Head of Audit the need for additional work to be undertaken.
  • Make use of the Early Warning System where appropriate.
  • Undertake other duties as may be deemed necessary by the Head of Audit.

 

Minimum Qualification and Experience required:

  • An accountancy qualification.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in corporate governance, internal audit and risk management.
  • Minimum 5 years progressive programme/project management experience.
  • Appropriate involvement and/or experience in similar programmes/projects in Pakistan or developing countries, including least developed countries.
  • Competence in report writing, meeting presentation, and communication skills.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office and other project management packages/tools.
  • Good knowledge of business operations in Pakistan or similar environment.
  • Must be fluent in English – both written & spoken.
