Purpose of the role

The main purpose of the role is to developing the trade and commodities theme by developing Go to Market Tool Kit (GTM-Tool Kit). In addition the role will be responsible for program design in quality assurance of fresh produce and understanding linkages with agronomy, plant pathology and plant health system. 

Key Accountabilities

• Quarantine compliance in agriculture production, Post-harvest,  Food Safety, SPS and providing traceability along the chain
• Working with trade business and corporate sector in fresh produce trade
• Working in produce certification on food safety system and farm assurance schemes at farm base level 
• Track record of designing training programs to link entire chain-all the way towards “improving practices from farm base till market
• Manage training farmers, traders, packers and suppliers on best practices
• Be part of developing better crop health, reduce crop losses and reduce end product losses during the way to reach its consumer
• Develop compliance procedure for SPS/Codex or OIE standards for food trade
• Developing food safety quality standards (This will also lead to adherence of some basic grade/quality standards)

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications and language skills

• M.Sc. (Hons), Food technology/Horticulture with extensive work in  fresh produce supply chains  
• Strong academic record

Previous experience

•  Minimum 10 years’ experience in Fresh food handling, Merchandizing, Trading, Quality assurance and standards development in Asia      

Personal characteristics

• Ability to work to tight deadlines
• Excellent Computer Skills
• Strong personal organisational and business skills
