Job Description:

Under the overall supervision of the Humanitarian Operations Manager and the direct supervision of the Programme Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for implementation of humanitarian program activities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA. In particular he/she will: 

  • Responsible to collect all humanitarian activities related information from the field and ensure that these updates be brought to the attention of the Programme Coordinator.
  • Manage and regularly update project measurement tools including, but not limited to spreadsheets, presentations, project progress tracking and narrative reporting.
  • Assist in the oversight of contracts or agreements with contractors and implementing partners.
  • Maintain records in accordance with program standards.
  • Facilitate monitoring of shelter/NFI activities in the field including beneficiary verification, distribution monitoring and post distribution spot checks.
  • Facilitate obtaining beneficiary feedback and investigation of complaints relating to humanitarian activities.
  • Assist reporting section in the preparation of reports and recommendations regarding the progress of projects.
  • Responsible to collect updated information from government, NGO, UN and other representatives in order to fulfill the coordination or operational duties of the humanitarian programme.
  • Work with government and local authorities, leaders, individuals and groups to implement IOM’s emergency response program.
  • Establish contact with appropriate partner agencies when basic or special needs be identified.
  • Undertake duty travels as required
  • Such other duties as may be assigned.

Desirable Qualifications:               

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Social Sciences or other related field.
  • Writing skills and experience producing reports
  • Three years of relevant experience in international, national NGO or government program.
  • Extensive work experience in challenging environments and operational activities in conflict areas.
  • Experience of working in emergency situations highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to sub offices and field sites.
  • Ability to work under extreme pressure in difficult conditions while maintaining security awareness.
  • Flexibility and focus on processes and their improvements.
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures and professional backgrounds.
  • Stamina, determination, commitment and adaptability in the workplace are required.  

Languages:

Fluency in Urdu and Pashto; well developed English writing skills.
