General Background and Position Description

USAID Power Distribution Program (PDP) is providing assistance to the government owned Power Distribution Companies of Pakistan (DISCOs), with the aim to curtail losses, enhance revenues and have a well regulated power distribution system in Pakistan. PDP’s assistance, in its current phase, is geared towards Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) and Peshawar Electric Power Company (PESCO) and will end in Septmber 2015.

Education & Experience: ACCA/CA-Inter/ICMA/MBA Finance

Specific Role and Responsibilities 

  • Assist in the verification of fixed assets data collected from Trial Balance of Accounting Units
  • Assist in feeding the Asset Sheet in prescribed format and able to keep a record of current year cost, accumulated cost and accumulated depreciation feeder wise and item wise
  • Assist in charging the specific rate of depreciation on current year cost of each item
  • Maintain the record of dead cost items, alive cost items and less than depreciable cost items
  • Assist in the preparation of depreciation as per schedule A&B for charging depreciation on balance sheet for compilation section
  • Assist in keeping a record of all assets on feeder level, division level, circle level and region level (item, cost and depreciation wise) 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of pertinent federal and local rules, regulations, ordinances, and other regulatory standards applicable to the work
  • Skill in researching, compiling, and summarizing statistical data and information materials
  • Skill in the manipulation and management of relational and non-relational database(s)
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communications with project consultants, DISCO employees, and the general public
  • Ability to organize work, establishes priorities, meet established deadlines, and follow up on assignments with a minimum of direction
