Crown Agents USA, funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID), invites highly qualified public relations professionals to submit their CVs for consideration of a newly created staff consultancy position working ‘in house’ with a Government of Pakistan organisation.  Following a probationary period, the appointment would be "at will" and full time for an agreed period. The Manager, Public Relations, will report to an Interim Director of Communications also employed by Crown Agents USA.  

Crown Agents USA expects that only professionals with 10-years or more experience will meet its needs, but will consider candidates with less professional time if the candidate’s experience suggests equivalent strength.  

Crown Agents USA will evaluate candidate submissions based on its needs, which include in-depth understanding of 

  • Concept of positioning as a basis for development of sound communications strategy and advocacy/public affairs progammes
  • Strategic communications as evidenced by previous written plans and programmes for corporation, government agency, or NGO
  • Economics and/or finance, with a strong understanding of the vital role private industry and investment contribute to Pakistan’s development, job growth and related social issues
  • Strong journalistic skills, including impeccable command of English
  • Role played by key stakeholders and influentials in mobilising support of worthwhile policies and/or positions
  • Opinion research with a demonstrated ability to direct such research 

In addition to this professional skill set, once selected, the successful candidate will be evaluated on his/her potential to   

  • Manage relationships with high level executives and stakeholders
  • Manage and implement a stakeholder engagement plans/programmes
  • Manage a public relations firm and campaign(s)
  • Promote and defend merit-based arguments indicative policies supportive of economic and job growth
  • Gain access to key stakeholders 

Other qualifications include:

  • A bachelor's degree  --  as a minimum --  in a related academic discipline, preferably journalism or communications with additional background in economics or political science
  • Previous substantive work in either public relations or journalism or advocacy campaigns
  • Strong portfolio of written work indicative of an ability analyse stakeholder positions, wants/needs, by offering creative solutions to pre-empt and/or resolve conflicts through rational appeals short of arbitration or legal action
  • Journalist commend of op-ed writing style appropriate for a leading business  --  rather than scholarly or academic  --  publication preferably dealing with economics, finance, or business topics
  • Exposure to ‘crisis communications’ and effective issue management and risk mitigation considered a plus
  • Exposure to community engagement types of programmes and their management
  • Three professional references whom we may contact. 

Crown Agents USA will interview finalists who may be asked to take a writing test. 

Crown Agents USA will contact candidates based on the quality of the CV, a work sample (either hard or soft copy), and the three references, and make its selection following interviews with leading candidates.  

Crown Agents USA will acknowledge receipt of all submissions, but cannot accept telephone calls.  Canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification and rejection.
