General Background and Position Description

Under the direction of the Engineering Team Lead, the Junior Engineer will be supporting PDP engineering functions especially the AMR project implementation, results and development of timely reports. This position also requires assisting PDP Engineering functions in helping establishing AMI network being developed under USAID Power Distribution Program.

This position is responsible for providing professional engineering services and support in ensuring accurate AMI system performance, quality installation and system integration by the contractor as part of the System Performance Verification (SPV) activity for MEPCO and PESCO. The SPV activity demands extensive filed visits in scattered areas of the DISCOs. 

Relevant Experience:

  • Minimum – BSc. Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Experience in related field with a consultant working closely with an Electric Utility will be preferred.
  • Preference will be given to the candidate having proficiency with electrical utility power distribution operation.
  • The Junior Engineer must have a strong engineering background.
  • Knowledge of the DISCO environment, ability to speak the local language is a must.
  • Ability to undertake extensive travel by both commercial air and company automobile during the implementation of the project is required.
  • Must have Computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Willingness to learn and operate in a strong team environment.
  • Ability to work within schedules and deadlines.
  • Ability to organize work, establishes priorities, meet established deadlines, and follow up on assignments with a minimum of direction.

Job Description:

  • Under guidance of Task Manager, understand and follow conventions of the Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI).
  • Help establishing and maintaining AMI Network.
  • Ensure Data connectivity between DICO IT, NOC and with all spoke sites.
  • Ensure proper AMR Meter installation and communication with MDC.
  • Perform data validation and prepare DISOC handover documentations
  • Ensure that appropriate design documentation has been created.
  • Ensure smooth operation of the AMI with M&T, commercial and field offices.
  • Develop communication protocols.
  • Help AMI user management and training
  • Assist in preparation and timely submittal of all required Engineering Team reports.
  • Other tasks as may be assigned by the Engineering Team Lead.
