General Background and Position Description

USAID Power Distribution Program (PDP) is providing assistance to the government owned Power Distribution Companies of Pakistan (DISCOs), with the aim to curtail losses, enhance revenues and have a well regulated power distribution system in Pakistan.  PDP’s assistance, in its current phase, is geared towards Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) and Peshawar Electric Power Company (PESCO) and will end in October 2015.

The Project Coordination Officer will provide direct liaison with Pakistan Government offices to include, but not limited to, the Ministry of Interior (MOI) and the Economic Affairs Division (EAD) for all immigration, security and tax exemption requirements. Coordinate vendor and/or service provider support for Project events (meetings, workshops, seminars etc.). Provide logistical support for transportation, lodging, and other services as required.

Relevant Experience: 

  1. Education – Master of Arts or Sciences degree, any discipline. Development area preferred
  2. Training – General, business or contracts negotiation; Microsoft Office
  3. Proficient in English, written and verbal demonstrated ability by previous employer or college courses taught in English
  4. Must speak Urdu and Punjabi fluently 
  5. Experience – Report writing, basic finance management, experience as a facilitator, above average knowledge of Pakistan Government Offices (civil service, civil service candidate)

Job Description:

  • Process visa applications through EAD and MOI
  • Process general correspondence through EAD and MOI as required or other government agencies as required
  • Process No Objection Certification clearances through EAD and MOI
  • Process other security related correspondence through EAD and MOI or other government agencies as required
  • Process tax exemption documents through EAD or other government agencies as required
  • Process and execute Event Management Forms from PDP departments
  • Plan, price, organize, promote, facilitate and coordinate different types of events, workshops, seminars and conferences primarily in Islamabad
  • Process claims for reimbursement or vendor payment
  • Coordinate transport and guest house/hotel requirements to support events or other tasks 
  • Coordinate with the Communications Team as required for event publicity
  • Provide event guidance and information to the attendees
  • Ensure Visual Compliance is completed on all Foreign Government attendees
  • Ensure that all contractual obligations are met
  • Support the Manager Admin and Support Operations as required. This may involve coordinating travel for PDP personnel, including but not limited to expatriate travel to and from Pakistan
  • All other assigned tasks
