General Background and Position Description

 The position will report directly to the Team Lead Policy and Regulatory at PDP;

 The position will also provide support to Governance Team on the regulatory matter with specific focus to privatization of Pakistan Power Sector including strengthening the regulatory support to MWP.

 Position – Specific Role and Responsibilities

 General assignments of the position will be as under:

  • To set high standards for the performance of legal department with the objective to provide best in class services and to ensure that the performance of the legal department meets all set KPIs. 
  • To evaluate the company processes and identify major non-compliance with the corporate regulatory framework and develop a plan for moving towards its compliance over a period of time.
  • Assist MWP and privatization commission strategic business plans for the DISCOs which are on the list of fast track privatization.
  • Involvement in use of or preparation of spread sheet module to support the business plan of DISCOs in support of the strategic business plans.
  • Carry out all detailed financial analysis through dynamic financial and operational model in excel allowing for easy changes to assess scenario analysis of recommended strategies for privatization on project revenues and future expansion & investment plans.
  • Identify roadblocks to private investment and privatization of national distribution companies; provide policy recommendations to facilitate greater private participation in energy sector. Presented the recommendations
  • Assistance to NTDC and CPPA G in bifurcation of Transmission licensees for presentation of the same by NTDC or CPPA G
  • Assistance to the PDP team working on Multiyear Tariff petitions with particular focus on the financial /regulatory matters including the licensing issues before NEPRA.
  • Any other task assigned to by Policy Team Lead and Sr. Advisor Policy, Governance and Privatization.

Requirements: Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Minimum a university degree in Economic, Finance or equivalent
  • A minimum of ten years of relevant professional experience
  • Hands-on experience in the of dealing with the energy sector, and more specifically the power sector covering entire supply chain, and related corporate, financial, regulatory & commercial matters
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
