Summary

The position reports to Chief of Party, and is responsible for ensuring achievement of all donor deliverables as articulated in grant agreements. This begins at the moment of concept note development and ends with final close out of a grant. The Sr. Program Manager is also responsible for representing Greenstar’s interests to donors, national and international government officials, and other external stakeholders. Close and consistent coordination with Greenstar senior staff is required to ensure programmatic success and achievement of donor objectives, as are frequent field visits to monitor program activities. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent Greenstar externally to donors and national and international government officials
  • Contribute to development of program strategies and budgets
  • Oversee development of program implementation plans, including budgets, Gantt charts, identification of milestones, burn rate targets, etc. 
  • Ensure collaboration from relevant GS departments for compliance of project deliverables
  • Ensure monthly updates from relevant GS departments on achievements against targets 
  • Ensure reporting deadlines and targets are met, also ensuring the quality of reporting
  • Facilitate CoP in reviewing donor reports
  • Regularly update and contribute to the documentation of project activities
  • Review and improve quality of program data base, getting it updated and contributing to documentation of project activities
  • Facilitate in capacity building activities for GS program staff and partners as needed
  • In consultation with Chief of Party, respond to donor and government inquires
  • Participate in monthly meetings with GS senior staff and sub awards to discuss project progress 
  • Contribute to developing annual and quarterly work plans and reports
  • Inform Chief of Party of all programmatic challenges and opportunities in a timely manner
  • Participate to support Chief of Party in any meeting with donors / related government departments (provincial and national) and represent the interests of Greenstar
  • Draft minutes of meetings conducted with donors and government and seek review from CoP 
  • Conduct planned and random monitoring visits on regular basis as agreed with CoP 
  • Oversee arrangements for all donor visits, coordinating with relevant GS departments as appropriate
  • Participate in donor visits and ensure appropriate follow-up
  • Any other duties as assigned by Chief of Party

 

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Preferably have a Master’s degree in Development Studies, Public Health, Medicine, Sociology or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years project management experience 
  • Previous donor relations and/or representational experience
  • Previous government relations and/or experiential experience
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong knowledge of FP/RH issues for effective strategizing of project activities.
  • Strong quantitative planning skills for budgeting, program development and activity planning.
  • Exceptional organizational skills 
  • Handle multiple priorities and work independently at a fast pace
  • Proactively keep the COP informed of program-related activities
  • Coordinate timely with the GS program and other project staff
  • Willing to Travel
  • Resilient to work under pressure
