Job Title : Programme Officer Sports for Development

Job Purpose

 

Job Purpose: To develop and implement evidence driven sports for development strategies and action plans required to achieve overarching strategic goals of Azad Foundation’s programmatic streams. Community development, peace building, conflict resolution, child development, protection and prevention through sports are the key areas of work for this position.

 

Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

  • Develop S4D strategies/plans, lead and facilitate implementation
  • Develop Calendar of Events
  • Facilitate establishment and capacity building of volunteer support network on CR/CP and S4D
  • Build capacity of Azad Foundation’s work force engaged in S4D programmatic streams
  • Ensure implementation of Azad Foundation’s Sports for Development Manual for Communities, Children and Youth
  • Support establishment of community centres for sports activities
  • Identify and develop partnerships with sports bodies, clubs, associations, NGOs, other private organizations and government departments and facilities to support S4D strategies/plans
  • Ensure community ownership and participation in sports for development activities
  • Develop contacts with education institutions and government to integrate out of school children into mainstream education
  • Develop capacity of and facilitate children and youth in target communities to undertake community initiatives and improve levels of social inclusion
  • Participate and facilitate implementation of integrated model of care for at-risk and street connected children through sports for development
  • Train community workers to deliver S4D and life skills manuals to street connected children and at-risk children
  • Plan and lead implementation of Football Matches
  • Budget and resource planning for all sports activities
  • Develop and maintain all relevant documentation
  • Keep statistical records and produce reports
  • Monitoring and evaluation of all S4D implementation through action research and other means where and whichever necessary
  • Offering coaching and supervision where and when required
  • Engage sports and celebrity figures as role models and ambassadors for S4D Programme

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Minimum Masters degree in social/development studies
  • Minimum 2 years relevant project management experience in working with children in difficult situations
  • In-depth knowledge of child rights is preferred
  • Trainings received on S4D and project management will be a plus.
