Position Summary: The Deputy Security Manager is a professional-level employee who supports the day-to-day management and coordination of operational field security activities. S/he ensures compliance with corporate security policies.

 

Reporting & Supervision:

The Deputy Security Manager reports to the Risk Manager and coordinates closely with the Security Manager.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Personnel Security/Safety:

  • Assist with appropriate security orientations/training, background investigations, and clearances at the pre-or post-assignment stages.

  • Assist with gathering reliable and relevant sources of threat information and warnings and ensuring information is available to project security personnel and managers.

  • Assist in establishing and promoting security education program and support the training component of this program.

    Physical Security/Facility Protection:

  • Verify that all security devices such as locks, alarms, access systems and physical barriers are operational or under repair, as appropriate.

  • Ensure that project office and residential site emergency evacuation plans are completed and updated and that all project staff and visitors are knowledgeable of and covered by their provisions.

  • Make sure visitor access and vehicle control systems are effective and functioning.

  • Assist with ensuring that all security contractor personnel’s (i.e., security guards) performance meets corporate expectations and that the contractors are fully equipped to rapidly respond, as necessary.

  • Liaise with guard force at the field offices to ensure that its members are properly vetted, briefed, trained, armed, and aware of their surroundings at all times.

    Emergency Planning/Continuity of Operations:

  • Support completion of and adherence to the Crisis Response Plan (CRP) for the field office.

  • Ensure that all employees are familiar with the plan and know whom to contact in an emergency.

  • Ensure that the CRP is adhered to by employees, and in particular that when staff travel to the field.

    Security Protocols Implementation

  • Ensure that the project travel protocols are current and are being implemented

  • Ensure that Security Escort orders and Driver orders are effective and are being followed

  • Ensure that office and residential security protocols are up to date and are being adhered to by employees

  • Identify Sensitive Information related to the project and ensure that it is being protected both in the office and in the field

  • Support maintenance of an effective “Call-in Protocol “ for field employees to ensure that they are safe and secure

    Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 20-25 pounds.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience working on security related issues.

  • Leadership experience.

  • Capability to identify and devise new strategies to maintain staff safety and security.

  • Presentation and writing skills.

  • Ability to collect information regarding possible security threats.

  • Ability to work in a high-stress environment and under extreme pressure.
