Duties and Responsibilities:  Under the supervision of Regional Project Coordinator,the Enterprise/Marketing Specialist will be responsible for the following: 

  • Support the establishment of Community Based Enterprise (CBE) through a consultative process with the key stakeholders;
  • Conduct measures for enhancing the business and technical capacity of local communities in establishing and managing CBE
  • Provide periodic support to communities and CBEs to strengthen their ability to access domestic and international markets for biodiversity-friendly products
  • Support the CBEs in the planning and delivery of business development plans
  • Conduct a systematic training needs assessment related to the project focus and based on this assessment coordinate, develop and delivery of enterprise training courses;
  • Develop and implement a participatory mechanism for CBE annual performance monitoring and reporting;
  • Forge alliances among CBEs and national and international buyers of Non Timer Forest Products (NTFP);
  • Provide  e-marketing support to the CBEs;
  • Support the development of certification mechanisms; draft a CBE enterprise development manual; document lessons learnt, and prepare reports as necessary.
  • Support development of protocols for sustainable use of key NTFP taking into consideration their biology, physiology, and ecology;
  • Any other task as mutually agreed.
 

Qualifications:

The incumbent should have a Master degree/MBA, natural sciences or social sciences from a recognized institution by HEC preferably with focus on enterprise development and/or marketing. 

 

Experience: 

At least eight (8) years professional experience, with focus oncommunity based NTFPenterprise development, value chain development, post harvest processing andmarketing is required. Experience in the management of Non Timer Forest Products and services will be preferred.
