General Background and Position Description

USAID Power Distribution Program (PDP) is providing assistance to the government owned Power Distribution Companies of Pakistan (DISCOs), with the aim to curtail losses, enhance revenues and have a well regulated power distribution system in Pakistan.  PDP’s assistance, in its current phase, is geared towards Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) and Peshawar Electric Power Company (PESCO) and will end in Septmber 2015.

Relevant Experience:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Accounting & Finance, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • No prior work experience is required, however, preference would be given to candidates with 1-2 years of prior experience in the power sector
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Interest in working at the power sector
  • Ability to organize work, establish priorities, meet deadlines, and follow-up on assignments with a minimum level of direction
  • Interest in compiling, documenting information materials
  • Ability to effectively communicate, orally and written
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communications with CPPA employees, and PDP team members

Job Description:

The Management Trainee will perform and accomplish the stated duties to the highest quality and standards, and will assist the Policy team to perform the tasks including the following:

  • Prepare an inventory of Standard Operating Procedures functional at CPPA. These SOPs relate to all areas of operation under CPPA; Meter Reading & Verification, Billing, Settlement, Payments, and other additional functions.
  • In the event that no formal SOPs exist; document processes that govern the operations mentioned above. This will be carried out through interactions, with the relevant personnel at CPPA, in the form of interviews and/or other activities as is necessary.
  • Assist the Supervisor in carrying out additional work related to the operationalization of CPPA as required.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor

Note: Project end date is until Sept, 2015 and the contract end date for this position is July 31, 2014.
