General Background and Position Description

USAID Power Distribution Program (PDP) is providing assistance to the government owned Power Distribution Companies of Pakistan (DISCOs), with the aim to curtail losses, enhance revenues and have a well regulated power distribution system in Pakistan.  PDP’s assistance, in its current phase, is geared towards Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) and Peshawar Electric Power Company (PESCO) and will end in Septmber 2015.

Based on the need IT Department required full time IT resources in Multan and Peshawar for administrating and managing the system/network. He/She will be responsible to provide the IT support (Helpdesk) in all offices setup in Multan and Peshawar. 

Relevant Experience:

  1. 3-5 years of Experience (Preferable if candidate has already work experience with USAID funded program)
  2. Graduate in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIT, MS Computer Science
  3. Excellent Communication, Proactive, Punctual, A good Team player, ability to work in stress environment etc.

Job Description:

The specific tasks and duties performed by this individual include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Administration of IT infrastructure of the project offices. This includes overall office operation, equipment operation and maintenance, IT, electronic communications and supervision of any staff and/or consultants for IT employed or contracted by the project.
  2. Maintain computer terminals, laptops, telephone exchange, photocopiers, printers, Faxes and other IT infrastructure equipment within all offices.
  3. Configure and install only authorized and legal items and prepare computer equipment according to the PDP IT Security Policies.
  4. Strong aptitude in OS repairs, spy ware and virus removal, hardware upgrade and troubleshooting.
  5. Ability to read computer instruction manual and comprehend directions there in order to remedy minor computer equipment malfunctions.
  6. Interpersonal skills necessary to train others in computer systems.
  7. Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware.
  8. Must maintain confidentiality.
  9. Provide in house support for all workshops and events that involve IT infrastructure and computing needs. 
  10. Maintain backup of all electronic files and drives for all offices to ensure there are no losses of project documents. Ensure that all laptops, computer terminals and all flash drives and data are backed up, update to date from all project staff and consultants.
  11. Maintains usage log for project IT equipment
  12. Ensures proper usage and supervises maintenance and repair of IT project equipment, including computer, fax, photocopying and other equipment as required.
  13. Ensure that all equipment are operational and connected to server and internet and  don’t join un-authorized and personal machine on official network, If he identify the illegeal machine on official network then confirm from users about approval else immediately report to his lead or supervisor.
  14. Provide Assistance in Servers maintenance and management for both software/hardware level, responsible for troubleshooting, systems backups, mail archiving, and disaster recovery
  15. Responsible for all help desk activities for project staff and consultants.
  16. Interacts with internal clients on all levels to help resolve IT-related issues and provides answers in a timely manner.
  17. Maintain overall ownership of user’s issue & service ensuring that they receive resolution within a reasonable timeframe.
  18. Effectively communicates relevant IT-related information to superiors.
  19. Perform any other tasks related to project assigned by supervisor.
  20. In his supervisor absence he will be responsible helpdesk and server level activities and answerable to senior management in case of any issue.
  21. He will have very limited access to the servers and in exceptional case if he requires to access to the server first will get consent to his supervisor and senior management.
  22. Ensure the sensitivity and confidentiality of the information of sensitive departments like Procurement, Finance and HR as well as for all individuals.
