Chemonics International seeks key personnel for the USAID-funded Pakistan Regional Economic Integration Activity (PREIA) to improve the trade environment in Pakistan. The focus areas will include improving the Government’s ability to develop and implement reforms to policies which affect trade, strengthen private sector and civil society’s engagement in trade policy-making and its reform, improving regional trade and transit facilitation, and improving regional business to business linkages.  The project will work to expand exports, create more competitive enterprises, and increase employment opportunities. The project will be based in Islamabad. 

The RTPA is a senior-level technical professional tasked with conducting analysis of GoP trade and transport agreements, existing trade policy framework, economic research on regional connectivity, designing/negotiating/implementing trade agreements, and strategy formation for the enhancement of the trade sector. S/he will also be responsible for supporting the GoP in preparing a policy framework for improved regional trade and transit integration, and providing trade negotiation assistance to the Foreign Trade Wing of the MoC.

 

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 15 years’ experience related to international trade policy, trade negotiations, implementation and monitoring of trade policy, regional / bilateral trade agreements, customs conventions and investment agreements.
  • At least 5 years of the RTPA’s experience should be related to trade capacity building in

developing countries, with a preference for experience in the Central and South Asia region.

  • A Master’s degree or higher in International Trade, International Business, or related

subjects; OR, in lieu of a Master's degree, a minimum of 20 years of relevant experience shall be required.
