General Summary:

The objective of the USAID Firms Project is to develop dynamic, internationally competitive private sector small and medium enterprises (SMEs), by working directly at the firm level and by improving the overall policy and regulatory environment to accelerate sales, investment, and job growth to undercut the basis of extremism. Socio-economic stabilization of vulnerable areas in Pakistan is in the strategic interest and has been an urgent priority for the U.S. Government. The primary prerequisite for this stabilization is a robust and competitive private sector resulting from a market-driven economic environment and enabling policies. The USAID Firms Project has two complementary components: Business Enabling Environment and Value Chain Development.

One of the major reporting tasks that the  project has to provide during the life of the project is an uploading of a series/ variety of electronic reports and documents related to all of our projects during the life of the project into the Development Experience Clearinghouse (DEC), generated via STTA agreements as electronic deliverables. 

Objective of the Internship:

The objective of this internship is to encourage business graduates to participate in the USAID Firms Project internship program, designed to provide mutual benefits to both parties; whereas the interns would add value to the project activities from her/his experience and will provide support to the technical component. The project will in turn provide equal opportunity to the interns, to learn about the project’s operational and administrative processes.

Specific Task of the Intern:

The project requires the services of a full time basis intern to assist and provide support in ensuring that all deliverables and reports are in the requisite DEC format and are otherwise complete. The interns shall review, edit, format and proofread all documentation before they are submitted.

  1. Review the background summary and/or scope of work for each assignment to understand the deliverable/report/documentation.
  2. Edit each deliverable specified to ensure that it is grammatically complete, English language is correct and fully comprehensible
  3. Format the deliverables submitted into the DEC approved template.
  4. Proofread each deliverable before submission.
  5. Perform any other duties or related tasks assigned by the Director of Operations and Program Support.

Job Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree from an accredited university is required.
  • Proficiency is MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills; with fluency in English and Urdu.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills.
  • Similar editing and content writing experience will be preferred.
Duty Station:

The intern would be based in the Lahore Office.
 
Duration of the Internship:

This internship is planned to take place as per a start date of on or around July 1, 2014.

Stipend:

The stipend for the internship would PKR 105/Hour
