PURPOSE OF POSITION

To conduct situation analysis on nutrition supplies available and consumption pattern in the community and lead capacity building of community on home preparation of nutrient foods, Kitchen gardening & livestock management, personal and environmental health in district Sukkur and Khairpur of Sindh province in line with the needs of community, projects target and schedule.

Main responsibilities

Program Assessment & Design

  • Plan and set up Nutrition Program (Tawana Bachay) training component for children and mothers with local available nutrients and food items.
  • Setting up linkages and integration of WV cross cutting themes; gender, child protection, education, HIV, EH, do no harm, disability and WASH.
  • Linkage development of communities with livestock and agriculture department.
  • Plan and coordinate training needs assessment of existing project areas in conjunction with nutrition coordinator and health & nutrition coordinator..
  • Develop Kitchen gardening and livestock management, and Hygiene Promotion IEC training material and design method of training.
  • Develop training plan on nutrition and budget in line with finance department and program officer.
  • In close collaboration with the H&N coordinator, identify the key areas for capacity building of health staff/community.
  • Work closely with H&N coordinator to develop proposals that will ensure adequate resources are mobilised on time for project implementation.

Management & Monitoring

  • Conduct follow up of trainings conducted on nutrition at health facilities and community.
  • Compile weekly and monthly progress and training
  • Establish and maintain World Vision and other best practice standards for health and nutrition program
  • Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation of nutrition consumption and dietary practices as per WV and donor standards.
  • Conduct regular monitoring of IEC material and distribute with team as per need & maintain records.
  • Ensure that gender and protection mainstreamed in all activities and within the community.
  • Timely preparation of concept notes on training, procurement of training supplies, producing and adapting curriculum.
  • Conduct situation analysis on locally available nutrition ingredients and consumption pattern.
  • Organize trainings for parents on production of nutritional products at home.
  • Organize training on kitchen gardening & livestock management with targeted families.
  • Organize formation of nutrition committees.
  • Develop IEC material on IYCF, child and maternal nutrition

Coordination

  • Liaison and coordination with community, HMC and nutrition committees
  • Coordinate with World Vision programs for integration and coordination

Documentation

  • Ensure data integrity for World Vision Nutrition Information System, ITT and monthly management reports.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports on training program.
  • Provide technical analysis of training needs, impact and follow up and performance indicators
  • Ensure training documents are well organized and archived for reference and duplication

Financial Management

  • Collaborate with finance department regarding development and management of training budget
  • Ensure expenditures are within budget and in compliance with financial standards.
  • Coordinate for procurement of training supplies with procurement department.

Training

  • Perform TNA, design and implement training on improving child and maternal nutrition with locally available nutrition ingredients at community level..
  • Capacity building of health teams with reference to community processes on food supply chain and procurement of food items.
  • Capacity building of nutrition project staff on kitchen Gardening

Job Description

  • BSc/MSc Agriculture will be preferred
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in training on health and nutrition, livelihood and wash projects
  • Operational knowledge of Sphere relief standards & HAP
  • Minimum 1 year experience of health program implementing SPHERE/HAP principals
  • Operational knowledge of community based psychosocial support
  • One year practical experience of community based health program
  • Good understanding of Human Rights, different approaches of development. Good understanding of Gender and Child rights.
  • Have good understanding of the function of support departments
  • Knowledge of the geographical location
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with ability to express ideas and concepts clearly and persuasively with senior internal and external stakeholders
  • Understands and values diversity and maximizes diversity to achieve organizational goals
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Broad understanding on health policy and development issues in conflict & post-conflict settings will be an asset
  • Ability to travel to insecure and remote locations
