Relevant Experience:

A. General Qualifications/Skills

  • Ability to perform successfully as a member of multiple project-related teams;
  • Strong computer literacy skills required in word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, web browsers, and email;
  • Excellent communications and writing ability;
  • Demonstrated successful interpersonal skills;
  • Fluency in both English and Urdu required; other Pakistani languages preferred;
  • A willingness to travel to all provinces of Pakistan; and
  • Work experience in the private sector and in a development project environment is preferred, with work experience in the former being more preferable.

B. Specific Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of LAN/WAN, hub & spoke Infra, routers, switches and ASA is must.
  • Extensive knowledge of windows and Linux environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of Windows Active Directory Policy and Procedures is required.
  • Extensive knowledge & Hands on Experience of Windows File Servers (DFS), Apache, IIS, DNS, IAS, FTP, TFTP servers is required.
  • Knowledge & Hands on Experience of ISA 2006 & its integration with Active Directory is required.
  • Extensive knowledge & Hands on Experience of VLANS, Inter VLAN Routing, SVIs & Cisco DHCP Services is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of Routing Protocols (Rip, OSPF, IGRP etc.), Auto-Failover & Load Balancing concepts.
  • Extensive knowledge & Hands on Experience of Cisco ASA 5500 Series, 4500 Series Switches, 7200 & 3800 Series Routers is required.
  • Knowledge & Hands on Experience of Ruckus Wireless Devices and Mesh technology is required.
  • Knowledge & Hands on Experience of Video Conferencing Hardware, Techniques & Technologies is required.
  • Knowledge of Voice over IP & Experience of Avaya IP PBX is required.
  • Knowledge & Hands on Experience of Acronis Backup Application & Tape Drive Backup Methodologies is required.
  • Knowledge of Network Storages is required.
  • Knowledge of Various NMS applications is required.
  • Knowledge of databases and web development technologies is a plus.
  • Fluency in spoken English.

C. Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, computer sciences, or related field is required; a Master’s degree in such fields is preferred.
  • CCNA/CCNP Certification is preferred.
  • MCSE/RHCE Certification is preferred.

 

Job Description:

The IT Specialist shall support the position’s supervisor and fellow project colleagues in the successful implementation of all aspects of the project’s work plan and achievement of the project objective. The individual holding this position shall perform, but not be limited to, the following specific tasks:

  • Design, installation, operation and maintenance of information security systems including firewalls, antivirus, malware detection/prevention systems, intrusion detection/prevention, network access controls, encryption, URL and content filtering systems in accordance with Chemonics technology security standards.
  • Centralize internet security for Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad & Swat offices; maintain periodic updates, infected computer isolation, safe system recovery after virus infection, randomly scan systems and servers against viruses. Perform regular security assessments of Firms IT resources to identify potential weaknesses and the need for updating systems.
  • Handle day to day issues to make services functional like the uptime of Internet Services and Share Drive access at Lahore and all satellite offices.
  • Provide full range of technical assistance in the area of desktop administration and support, as well as coordinate with other IT Specialists on issues that affect desktop administration and configuration.
  • Research new versions of centrally supported hardware and software and manage beta testing, production rollout and post production support.
  • Perform second level desktop troubleshooting in conjunction with the operations staff in field offices.
  • Process grant/revoke access/privileges to the USAID Project personnel to share drive resources in all four offices.
  • Manage, secure and ensure uptime of Wi-Fi system in guest house.
  • Manage & Troubleshoot VoIP issues in all offices.
  • Manage & Troubleshoot Video Conferencing issues in all offices.
  • Troubleshooting & resolving any network problems arising.
  • Provide first line response for users requiring assistance with information technology issues and problems.
  • Respond to requests for technical assistance to all USAID Project Offices and Guest House. 
  • Track issues to resolution updating the internal knowledgebase and/or communicating to IT Manager.
  • Provide a single view to the USAID Project for information technology related problems by efficient use of the IT email group.
  • Coordinate with the operations team to get the malfunctioned equipment fixed and prepare specs for Proc-Sub in order to fulfill new IT needs of the project.
  • Install, configure, test, deploy & manage server hardware and software, including Domain Controller, File Server, IAS Server, ISA Server, DB Server, ADCs in all offices, Domain Name Server (DNS), DHCP, and various security software.
  • Google apps administration to facilitate Firms staff with services like email, Google docs, Google calendars. Maintain backup of the email accounts of the resigning employees.
  • Maintain and update the RFP website in coordination with ProcSub to upload new RFAs, RFP, and RFQs .
  • Update S/W inventory and keep track of licenses of Firms software, as well as ensure the use of genuine S/W on workstations and Firms Pool laptops.
  • Periodic checkups of Pool Laptops to ensure health of systems.
  • Perform all other tasks that may be assigned by the supervisor.
