Reconstruction Team Leader - MuzaffarGarh     

 

Purpose Of Position:

Overall responsibility and management of all engineering related activities in his/her AIP  This includes: management of engineering staff at the AIP level, take ownership of the engineering related budget at the AIP, design and technical oversight of reconstruction initiatives in education, water/sanitation and community infrastructure.

Major responsibilities:

 

  • Manage and supervise the engineering team at the AIP. Take owner ship of the engineering related budget at AIP level, design and technical oversight of reconstruction initiatives in education, livelihood, WASH, DRR, Health and Nutrition, Security, Admin., and emergency response.
  • Manage reconstruction projects budgets at the AIP Manage reconstruction projects budgets at the AIP
  • Engineering Assessment and proposal of appropriate interventions at the AIP which including design work for smaller projects such as livelihoods, temporary shelters, WatSan, etc.  For larger projects appropriate external expertise must be sought and recommended.
  • Prepare BOQ’s, Drawings and specification and approved by internal/external authorities, and raise PRF as per budget, Responsible for implementation of full service contract/Labor contracts/or CFW Contract and supervising of projects.  Prepare payments and verification of projects and process through procurement,
  • Estimate costs and prepare specifications for materials used in civil engineering works, and estimate project completion date to be incorporated in Tender/contracts.
  • Assist in proposal preparation and grant management of reconstruction projects, with innovative environmental design.
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, and other topographical or geologic data to plan projects.
  • Assist in investigation of sites to work out the most suitable foundation/retrofit/refurbishment design for a proposed repair and rehabilitation works research and advice on the best engineering solution to meet the needs and budget to develop detailed programs for the coordination of site activities.
  • Assist in establishing of detailed programs for the planning of design and construction processes. Organize the delivery of materials and equipment needed for construction, supervise labor. Provide skilled assistance to builders and construction managers by interpreting and carrying out directions for planning and organizing building projects.
  • Interpret building plans, regulations and codes of practice to direct progress of the work, making sure that specifications and regulations are followed and proper methods and materials are used
  • Measure and test strength of material according to building code of Pakistan or systems related to civil engineering works. Inspect civil engineering works, modify and supervise repair work and maintenance. Check to make sure that finished works are within specifications, contract terms and regulations.
  • Analyze and record reports on loading, labor, productivity, quality, materials and performance. Record building progress and variations from the design drawings or specifications on daily log sheet.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly reports.
  • Resolve conflict/dispute regarding contracts.
  • Coordinate with project managers and construction workers.
  • Assist NRC in preparing programs within project and community needs identification and setting budgets.
  • Perform any other work as assigned any by the Civil engineer and/or Construction manager.

Skills and Knowledge:

 

  • Ability to work independently.  
  • Take Initiatives.

Education & Experience:

 

  • Degree in Engineering, preferably Civil or Construction Engineering or similar.
  • At least 4 years of previous experience in working on construction projects.
  • Good command of oral and written English is a must.
  • Some computer literacy is needed.
