Duties & Responsibilities

The District Manager will supervise a team of veterinarians and community mobilizers at District level for the accomplishment of “Livestock for Life” project activities and will report the overall progress and updates to the Area Project Manager (APM) and concerned Program Manager (PM). The District Project Manager (DPM) will be responsible for:

  •  Launching and implementation of the Livestock for Life project of Relief International in respective areas/district of intervention.
  • Orientation of the staff for accomplishment of project activities and targets.
  • Planning & follow up of the project activities with implementation strategy for successful completion.
  • Coordination & Liaison with District Administration, line departments (Health, Education, Livestock & Dairy Development, Wildlife, Forest/Agriculture and feed) back to APM for all important activities.
  • ZCC formation, registration and office establishment at district level and ensuring monthly and quarterly meetings and its reporting to APM/PM.
  • Follow up of research initiatives at the district level.
  • Organizing workshops/seminars, managing field activities & training events for the target beneficiaries. (Agro/Livestock farmers, butchers, traders, Community Animal & Public Health Workers, government officials and private practitioners) in coordination with APM and taking in loop PM for inputs and suggestions.
  • Monitoring, Coordination & feedback of overall progress, issues and other important tasks/activities assigned by APM/PM.
  • Compilation of case studies and developing success stories for sharing with different stake holders and encouraging behavior change.
  • Developing extensive messages for mass awareness on various zoonotic diseases/issues in consultation with APM and in coordination with line departments.
  • In time submission of training reports, bi-weekly-quarterly & final project reports to APM/PM.
  • Arranging and conducting Baseline, Need Assessment, Pre and Post KAP surveys for the current phase or future programs as and when required on need basis.
  • Assist the APM in proposal writing & developing concept notes in accordance to the project theme or relevant areas.
  • Appraisal & Evaluation of the staff/employees on the basis of performance.
  • Any other official responsibility/responsibilities assigned by the APM/PM for supporting the objectives of      Livestock for Life project of Relief International.

 Qualifications:

  •  Advance Degree in Veterinary Medicine/Animal Sciences, Social Sciences/MPH & Rural Development for exceptional candidates.
  • Must have knowledge of the health safety and Zoonotic diseases prevalent in the area.
  • At least 4-5 years of progressive experience and proven track record of relevant competence of working with NGOs/INGOs.
  • Experience in development programming and management, program planning and reporting;
  • Ability and interest to work with a multi-ethnic team in a culturally appropriate manner.
  • Experience of working in unstable or conflict affected areas and willingness to work in very remote areas with limited services and amenities.
  • Must be able to work independently and together with the project team.
  • Must have adept knowledge of computer applications and softwares (MS Word, MS Excel & Power point).
  • Strong writing/drafting and reporting skills.
  •  Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
